Hoop Shoot Winners
Congratulations to all of Willard's Elks Hoop Shoot first and second place finishers.  The Hoop Shoot contest was held during Physical Education class the past two weeks.  First place finishers will move on to the next round of the competition off site.  Second place finishers will serve as alternates.  Job well done!

Homework Help Begins

HomeworkHelpBeginning October 27, 2014, Willard Elementary School will be providing after school Homework Help sessions. These services will be offered every Monday and Wednesday from 3:00-4:00 p.m. Transportation will NOT be provided by the school. Students who finish homework before 4:00 are given time to work on other tasks, read quietly, or complete academic activities on the computer.  This is a great opportunity for your student to get extra help on homework.  If you are interested, please fill out and return the paperwork located at the below link.

New College & Career Readiness Standards

college and career logoAs mentioned in Willard's September newsletter, huge changes have come our way in regards to the standards that we teach on a daily basis.  This past spring, Indiana adopted new College and Career Readiness standards.  They can be found here: http://www.doe.in.gov/standards

These standards are the roadmap that guide what our students should know and/or be able to do by the conclusion of the current school year.

Because of these new standards, the state of Indiana is also adopting a new end of the year summative assessment.  This assessment will take the place of the previous ISTEP+ assessment and will be aligned to these new standards.  You can experience the new College and Career Readiness Assessment by clicking on the link below:
