Good evening students and families-
We are happy to welcome our students back into the building this week and I wanted to send a reminder about how the hybrid schedule will work beginning tomorrow.
The doors will open at 7:50 AM for student arrival.Classes begin at 8:08 AM. PLEASE NOTE THE EARLIER START TIME!
Please be certain you know which Group your student is in. Group A attends on Monday/Wednesday and Group B attends on Tuesday/Thursday. This information can be found in PowerSchool if needed.
On the day that students are not in the building they are expected to be online doing their schoolwork. Students will need to be aware of all teacher's expectations. Getting online in the morning to be certain nothing is missed is essential. Some teachers may send screencasts, some may Zoom their students live, some teachers may send out work for kids to do on their "work from home" days. Be certain to read and understand due dates from each teacher.
On Fridays, students will be expected to Zoom with their teachers for attendance each period.
Passing periods will be 1 minute shorter but with fewer students in the building 3 minutes should be enough time to get from class to class.
At lunchtime, students will be choosing new seats in the commons. All WCHS students will eat at the same time from 10:50-11:20 AM.
For students at home, lunches are available from 11:30-12:30 at Door #1 along with other locations around our school community. When students are in school, at the end of the day the dismissal bell for bus riders will be at 2:36 PM.The dismissal bell for walkers/riders will be at 2:42 PM.
Our goal with hybrid is for every student in every class to be 6 feet away from any other person. Due to only having half the students in the building at a time we should be able to accomplish this task. This would make quarantining students for close contact during the school day to be non existent except for PE partners/groups, lab groups, and athletic teams. We are hopeful this will help us keep more students in the building without 14 day quarantines.
If you have any questions please feel free to call WCHS at 765-584-8201 tomorrow.

I want to publicly expression my appreciation for KISS-TV. No fault of theirs, an electrical issue caused them to not to get to livestream our graduation today. We were able to correct the electrical issue and proceed with graduation but their computer system would not come back after the electrical issue. Thankfully Mr. Merrill and his staff continued to record the ceremony and will be able to make a video that will be shared out in the next few weeks. A BIG thank you to Mr. Merrill, his staff and Union City students who spent a hot Saturday morning in July, to get the footage that should make an excellent video to view soon!

If you know a Class of 2020 graduate, help us out and make sure they are aware of the following things:
1. Baccalaureate is tonight at the Winchester Nazarene Church at 7 PM. This event is optional. Masks are recommended but not required.
2. The Senior Breakfast is tomorrow, Friday, at 9 AM in the Commons. The video will also be shown at that time. In the past, families have been invited to come and view the video. We are not inviting families this year due to social distancing but every senior will receive a DVD of the video to watch with their family.
3. The MANDATORY practice for all seniors going through graduation is tomorrow, Friday, at about 9:45 AM directly after the breakfast. Every senior should bring their cap, gown, and stole to rehearsal for the Class of 2020 photo that will be taken outside on the football field.
4. Seniors should arrive on Saturday to the Commons at 9:15 AM and enter through Door #1. Graduation will begin at 10:00 AM!
Again, if you are a friend or family of a Class of 2020 graduate please make sure they are aware of all of this information. The students have received this information through email and USPS mail but we want to make sure no one misses out. We are no longer able to send text messages or phone call reminders to the Class of 2020 because our computer system has rolled over to prepare for the 2020-2021 school year.
We look forward to honor this special class!

2020 SENIORS: Please remember the Senior Breakfast/Video/Graduation Practice will be held on Friday at 9:00 AM in the Commons. Bring your cap, gown, & stole for the class picture. The MANDATORY practice on the football field will begin around 9:45-10:00 AM. See you Friday!

Randolph Central School Corporation and the WCHS/DMS athletic departments are excited for the opportunity to resume Indiana High School Athletic Association sanctioned athletics starting July 6th.
WCHS will begin July 6th and DMS will begin when we resume school.
Every WCHS and DMS student athlete will have to complete an IHSAA Health History Questionnaire and consent and Release Certificate prior to beginning their WCHS summer or DMS fall activities.
Last year's 2019-2020 physicals are good for this upcoming 20-21 calendar school year as long as you do not answer yes to any of the questions on the IHSAA health history questionnaire If you answer "yes" you will need a new physical prior to activity.
All required athletic paperwork
AND
the WCHS July Athletic Schedule can be found on the various WCHS and DMS social media outlets.
Hard copies can be picked up at DMS door #1 during the Randolph Central summer lunch hours of 11am- 1pm Monday through Friday.
The WCHS Athletic Department is excited to get back to what we will have to call "Our New Normal" for high school athletics. This will be very challenging and ever changing. In order to play games in August it will be crucial that we follow the guidelines that have been set forth starting in July.

Any senior who won awards last evening at the Senior Awards program may pick them up today between 11 AM and 1 PM in the front circle drive at WCHS. See you there!

WCHS-We have had many questions already about how students will get their school items that are left in lockers & classrooms. We will be developing a plan and will give you details soon. Keep working hard on eLearning and have a great weekend!

The Governor issued an Executive Order today closing all K-12 schools and requiring each school to continue an extended learning plan that includes 160 student days. Randolph Central will continue eLearning Days on Mon., Tues., & Thurs. of each week. More info coming soon.

Students: Please check your email for a google doc that was sent that should help you if you are struggling to navigate eLearning. Also, remember to contact your teachers if you need assistance!

I have several pieces of information that I would like to share with you in regard to our eLearning Days.
*Every student will be expected to work through their eLearning lessons beginning tomorrow. We will have eLearning on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays until May 1. We are scheduled to return to school on May 4.
*Students should go online to get their lessons. If they are struggling with any course, teachers will be available through email on eLearning Days from 9:00 AM-2:00 PM. Students should contact their teachers. Your child does not want to get behind on lessons as it could become overwhelming to try to catch up. Please make sure your child is observing assignment due dates and is communicating with teachers if there is a concern.
*If your child does not have internet capabilities for their Chromebook or they do not have a Chromebook we can get them alternate assignments. Obviously it would be best for the student to use their Chromebook for their eLearning lessons but if that is impossible please contact WCHS at 765-584-8201 or 765-584-1401 and dial extension 1500. If you call on an eLearning Day between 9:00 AM and 2:00 PM someone will answer and will assist you to help your child get whatever is needed. If you are unable to call during those designated hours please leave a message at extension 1500 with your child’s name, grade and a telephone number of how to reach you and we will work to gather materials and call you to let you know when the items are ready.
*Every teacher will be working to make contact with every one of their students either through an assignment submission, an email, or a phone call. Please do not hesitate to reach out to our staff for assistance.
*If your child has left something in a locker that is needed please call the WCHS office and we will get the item and leave it in the entry for pick up. If your child’s Chromebook quits working please call the office.
*If your child is a special needs student or has a special learning plan please let us know if you have any concerns. Your child will soon be hearing from teachers and paraprofessionals and should share their concerns if they have any.
*Lunches and breakfasts will continue to be available each day throughout the closure of school. If you need more information about the availability please call the WCHS office.
Again, the WCHS office phone number is 765-584-8201 or 765-584-1401 and the office extension is 1500. If no one answers please leave a message and we will get back with you as soon as possible.
*We respectfully ask for your assistance with keeping the staff and yourself safe. If you need anything at all please call the office before coming to WCHS and we will work to get what you need while observing all safety protocols.
Thank you and have a blessed evening.

Indianapolis – Forty high school seniors from throughout Indiana have been named 2020 Indiana Academic All-Stars, a program of the Indiana Association of School Principals (IASP). In addition, 50 other students were recognized as Academic All-Star Regional Honorees. The students were selected from a field of 280 outstanding nominees from the state’s private and public accredited schools.
Academic All-Star distinction recognizes seniors who excel in the classroom first and foremost, but who also are actively involved in their schools and communities, and take on leadership roles in those activities. The program is produced by the Indiana Association of School Principals, with support provided by DePauw University, Indiana University Bloomington, and Purdue University, along with corporate partner Herff Jones.
Student awards will be awarded at a later date by DePauw University, Indiana UniversityBloomington, Purdue University, and the Indiana Association of School Principals. Herff Jones provides the plaques awarded to the 40 Indiana Academic All-Stars and their Influential Educators.
The IASP Indiana Academic All-Stars program salutes academic excellence in the same manner that student athletes traditionally are honored. By providing a showcase for academically talented seniors, the sponsoring organizations hope to accomplish the following objectives:
Give academic achievement the prestige it deserves;
Motivate students to recognize the value of academic excellence;
Provide students with an incentive for academic achievement, and
Promote a positive image of Indiana’s young people.
Each public and private high school accredited by the Indiana Department of Education may nominate one senior for consideration as an Indiana Academic All-Star. From these nominees, a selection committee chose the Regional winners (representing five regions in Indiana) and the 40
Indiana Academic All-Stars. Selection of the school’s nominee is based upon the following considerations:
A mathematical formula that combines the SAT or ACT composite score and the
seven-semester grade-point average; and
Academic achievements and honors, academic courses and academic extracurricular
activities.
Other extracurricular activities, community service and leadership qualities.
CONGRATULATIONS TO GRANT WAGNER ON BEING SELECTED AS ONE OF THE FORTY Indiana Academic All-Stars!
