Today, Willard 3rd grade students who have signed up for a CollegeChoice 529 Direct Savings Plan through Randolph County Promise took home piggy banks. They will be working on collecting money for their college savings account. Students participating in this program need to return their money by Monday, October 12th. If students are able to raise $25 in their piggy banks, they will receive an additional $75 in their accounts! If you haven’t signed up your child for their CollegeChoice 529 Direct Savings Plan, it is not too late. If you sign up your child this week, we will send home a piggy bank so they can participate in this incentive. If you have any questions or need help signing up, please contact Amy Hoggatt at Willard. Go Warriors!

Today, all Willard Elementary School students took part in ALICE training conducted by corporation resource officer Mark Anderson, Mr. Duncan, and classroom teachers. This protocol teaches the steps taken and options available in the event that an intruder would enter our building. We are required by Indiana code to conduct one man-made occurrence drill per semester.
ALICE stands for:
Alert: Telling the closest adult of anything suspicious.
Lockdown: Locking and barricading classroom doors.
Inform: Listening for information.
Counter: Distracting the intruder if he/she enters the classroom by throwing objects and yelling loudly.
Evacuate: As soon as safely possible, running as far from the intruder as possible and meet at the rally point.
We are happy to say that our students did incredibly well. Parents and guardians should be proud of the high level maturity, respectfulness, and dependability they exhibited during the drill.
A strong focus was and is always placed upon being prepared, not scared. Please help reinforce this at home.
If you’d like further information, please contact Mark Anderson at maanderson@randolphcentral.us or Mr. Duncan at jduncan@randolphcentral.us.
