Unfortunately, our 5th grade students were not able to visit Driver Middle School this year for "Buddy Day". But, the amazing staff and students at DMS have created a video to help our 5th grade students with the transition. Take a look! Thanks DMS! We are excited to be DMS Hawks! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wUyYvo6qa-c&feature=youtu.be&fbclid=IwAR0c1KEzgSZBP1M99-z2z2wKR-vG-e0yV50AP_yEPGURTdfS_cC5IeE8I0o

5th GRADE PARENTS...The following message went out today from our friends at DMS to our 5th grade students via email. Please help your child complete the survey with their class choices as soon as possible. Thank you! "Hello 5th graders! My name is Mrs. Wright and I am the school counselor at Driver Middle School. I do the same types of things here that your counselor, Mr. Edwards, does at Willard and Deerfield. Today I am writing to you to give you a few updates and to ask you to make a choice for your classes next year in 6th grade. I am sad that I have not gotten to meet all of you yet, but I am excited that you will be joining us at Driver soon! All 6th graders take Writing, Literature, Math, Science, History, and a rotation of Gym/Industrial Technology/Coding. You will also get to take a music class, and you will get to choose between Band or Choir. Hopefully all of you have started thinking about which one of those options you are interested in. Please take a minute to complete this survey to let me know your choice. Select your course here: https://forms.gle/XbuStbs7g3g1ZQgi7 I know that a lot of you are excited for middle school and there are also a lot of you that are nervous about it. It is okay to feel either way, or even a combination of both! I am going to be working with the DMS Ambassadors to create a video for you to learn some things about Driver and also try to answer some commonly asked questions. Hopefully I will be able to send that to you next week! Have a great day and please let me or your teacher know if you have any questions."

*IMPORTANT SCHOOL CLEAN-OUT INFORMATION* This information is included in today's COVID-19 online update and physical mailing, but just in case you missed it... All students should plan to come to Willard to retrieve their personal belongings on one of two scheduled days: • Monday, May 18th 9:00AM-2:00PM • Tuesday, May 19th 4:00PM-7:00PM Teachers will be working in the coming weeks to bag all student belongings. Each bag will be labeled with the students name and placed in our front hallway. Below are the guidelines for pick-up: •Please enter door #1 at the front of the building. •Only one member of the family should enter the school to retrieve belongings. •Once inside, please follow the marked path down the front hallway to the west (toward the library). This hallway should remain “one way”. •Locate your child’s classroom table and take the bag marked with his/her name. Please do not touch other bags other than your own child’s. •One you have retrieved your child’s bag, please proceed to the exit door at the northwest corner of the building. Again, this hallway is “one way”. •No more than three families should be in the front hallway at the same time, and all will be asked to maintain 6 feet separation within the school and while waiting for entrance (if necessary). If the two scheduled times do not work for you and your family, please reach out the Willard office to schedule an appointment at a different time.

The Randolph Central elementary schools have made changes to the way that students will be graded during our Continuous Learning period. *Rather than traditional grades, the Randolph Central Elementary Schools will be using a rubric-based grading system within our elementary schools. This system is based upon the recently released guidelines from the Indiana Department of Education for elementary schools. *While some teachers may continue to place grades into Powerschool for some individual assignments, students will NOT receive a traditional percentage/letter grade for the fourth nine weeks. *Progress Reports will be shared with students for each eLearning week. These reports are intended to provide feedback to students and parents during this period of extended remote learning due to the COVID-19 school closure. We recognize that traditional grading practices may not be meaningful and fair to our families during this time. *While grading practices may look different from traditional methods, it is vital that the work of teaching and learning continue throughout these weeks. Students are still expected to complete eLearning assignments and activities to the best of their ability by the due date. *Progress Reports will be available in Google Drive for students on the Friday of the week assignments are due, as outlined in the attached calendar and below. For example: April 6, 7, 9 - eLearning work/instruction April 13 - all eLearning work from April 6, 7, & 9 is due April 17 - Progress Reports for the week of April 6th are shared with students and families via Google Drive.
