Today, all Willard Elementary School students took part in ALICE training conducted by corporation resource officer Mark Anderson, Mr. Duncan, and classroom teachers. This protocol teaches the steps taken and options available in the event that an intruder would enter our building. We are required by Indiana code to conduct one man-made occurrence drill per semester. ALICE stands for: Alert: Telling the closest adult of anything suspicious. Lockdown: Locking and barricading classroom doors. Inform: Listening for information. Counter: Distracting the intruder if he/she enters the classroom by throwing objects and yelling loudly. Evacuate: As soon as safely possible, running as far from the intruder as possible and meet at the rally point. We are happy to say that our students did incredibly well. Parents and guardians should be proud of the high level maturity, respectfulness, and dependability they exhibited during the drill. A strong focus was and is always placed upon being prepared, not scared. Please help reinforce this at home. If you’d like further information, please contact Mark Anderson at maanderson@randolphcentral.us or Mr. Duncan at jduncan@randolphcentral.us. More information may also be found at https://www.alicetraining.com.

IMPORTANT REMINDER! For the safety of our students, please do not drop students off at Door #1 between 8:00 and 8:15AM. It is imperative that we keep the bus lane clear during this time. Dropping here puts students in harms way. All morning drop-offs during this time should take place at Door #4 at the southwest corner of the building. THANK YOU!
